A wide variety of product groups and technologies that differentiate us from our competitors

A wide variety of product groups

We have been involved in the manufacturing of a variety of products since 1984 and our first project was related to wafer processing.

We are now manufacturing CCD/CMOS sensors to be included in image-related products. Currently, our CCD linear sensors have top market share globally.

We also manufacture analog semiconductors (BiCD-0.6, CD-0.13, and BiCD-0.13) in addition to logic IC products (MCU/ASIC). We have established a manufacturing system that can be applied to a wide variety of processes.

Technologies that differentiate us from our competitors

In addition to wafer production, we can also provide the through silicon via (TSV) process and color filter manufacturing process, which are essential for image-related products.

In addition to conventional plastic packages, we can also provide packaging solutions using wafer-level chip-scale packages (WLCSP) with the same sized footprint as the chip.

  • [Speedy system] Semiconductors are completed on our site. We design semiconductor circuits and produce pellets. * Mask production, assembly, and shipment are outsourced.
  • [Flexible system] As a subcontractor, we flexibly meet the needs of our customers, including semiconductor chip production and semiconductor manufacturing. For example, we can provide wafer production services, processes from wafer production through to wafer testing, and processes from wafer production through to packaging.
  • [Global production network] We work together with a number of partners inside and outside Japan in the areas of wafer testing and semiconductor assembly. Our networks inside Japan: Iwate, Miyagi, Oita, Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima Our international networks: China, Taiwan and Malaysia

Reliable supply of products to support customer SCM (BCP and risk management)

We have a full grasp of our role as and the importance involved with being a manufacturer of semiconductors, which are used in a wide range of electronics parts. Based on this understanding, we develop and implement measures to ensure business continuity and reliable supply availability in order to support our customers' SCM.

Procurement

  1. We are actively expanding our procurement sources through not only globalization but also by securing multiple sources for procurement.
  2. We work with local business partners to achieve speedy procurement of tools and materials.

Disaster planning

  1. Use of an Earthquake Hazards Reduction System Based on P Waves
    We have already implemented measures against earthquakes to ensure that we can continue stable production without being affected significantly by earthquakes with an intensity up to four (on the Japanese seismic scale). For earthquakes with an intensity of 5-weak or greater, we have established guidelines for employees evacuation safety, as well as a system that automatically cuts off the supply of chemicals and gases and shuts down all the equipment safely as follows. These provisions would make it possible for us to quickly resume production and deliver products to customers even in the event of a major earthquake.

  2. Multi-site manufacturing
    To minimize the impact of natural disasters on the SCM of our customers, we work together with other companies in the Toshiba group and share production processes and manufacturing equipment parts (promotion of a Dual-Fab strategy).
